Job Summary
Certified welder (or able to pass certification test) with five years welding experience of plate, tube, and structural steel. Strong working knowledge of blueprints, routers, and metal weld heat ratings. Experience in welding of large steel parts used in machinery manufacturing.
Essential Functions
- Cleans steel before fabrication of parts.
- Fabricates components per print.
- Checks and verifies the quality, size, and spacing of all final welds.
- Cleans slag, weld splatter, tack and bracing.
- Maintains quality of work and housekeeping to meet SSI standards.
Job Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of MIG welding processes with emphasis on weld-out and excellent fabrication.
- Understands blueprints and job routers.
- Appropriately maintains welder, tip, gun, and hood.
- Uses correct procedures for gas bottle storage.
- Appropriately operates a cutting torch and carbon arc.
Decision Making:
- Always consider the safety hazards and perform all work in a safe manner.
- Work in a controlled and safe manner.
- Maintain accurate process sheets, developing new ones, and reporting router accuracy and print problems
Additional Skills
- Safely operate bridge and jib cranes for material handling
- Safely operate forklift
- Assure that the work area is kept in a clean and orderly manner
- Participate in the preventative maintenance program
- Perform work as a team player, cooperating with employees in a positive manner that accomplishes tasks efficiently
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 15 pounds above shoulder height on a frequent basis.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to operate a forklift, pallet jack, hoist, and other machining equipment.
- Eye and Hearing protection devices are required, as defined by safety guidelines.
Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
