Overview
We are seeking a technically skilled Controls Field Service Engineer to support the installation, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial automation and control systems. This hands‑on role works directly with customers, engineering, and manufacturing teams to maintain and improve PLC‑based systems, robotics, motion control, and machine vision equipment. The ideal candidate thrives in the field, enjoys solving complex problems, and delivers excellent customer support.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automation and control systems
- Write, modify, and debug PLC programs, motion control applications, and robotic programs
- (ABB, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Epson, Universal Robots)
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues using schematics and technical documentation
- Troubleshoot and support HMI/OIT systems and machine vision systems (Cognex, Keyence)
- Support system upgrades, modifications, and new product installations
- Recommend system improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction
- Assist manufacturing and purchasing teams with component selection and obsolescence solutions
- Support and mentor Field Service Engineers and Technicians
- Document service activities, findings, and recommendations
- Follow all safety regulations, standards, and best practices
- Travel to customer sites and provide on‑site technical support
Travel
- Manufacturing facilities, customer sites, and office settings
- Approx. 70% local travel, 5% non‑local, 25% office-based
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (BSEE preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering
- Strong experience with PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens)
- Experience with robotics, motion control, and vision systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and AutoCAD drawings
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Knowledge of industry standards (UL, CE, ISO, NFPA, GMP)
- Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills
- Self‑motivated, hands‑on, and able to work independently in the field
Pay: $70,000.00 - $98,000.00 per year
