About Whiskers Lodge
Whiskers Lodge is a boutique cat boarding lodge designed around calm care, enrichment, and thoughtful hospitality. We’ve created a cat-only environment where every guest receives individualized attention and care.
We’re looking for Cat Care Associates who are equal parts cat people and detail people. The best fit for this role is someone who notices the little things, takes pride in keeping spaces exceptionally clean and organized, follows routines carefully, and can be counted on to provide consistent care even when working independently.
This is a hands-on role with scheduled 3–4 hour shifts. It involves plenty of time with cats, but also a significant amount of cleaning, resetting spaces, preparing meals, documenting care, and keeping the Lodge running smoothly.
We’re currently hiring for part-time schedules, with the potential for increased hours and a full-time opportunity as Whiskers Lodge continues to grow. We’re especially interested in finding people who want to grow with a small business and take on greater responsibility over time.
Compensation starts at $22/hour, with opportunities for growth based on performance, experience, and increased responsibility. Benefits are not currently offered.
Core Responsibilities
- Clean and refresh guest suites, enrichment spaces, litter areas, and shared Lodge environments to a consistently high standard
- Follow individualized feeding, care, and enrichment instructions accurately
- Refresh water, prepare meals, monitor litter box activity, and complete routine guest-care tasks
- Observe guest behavior and notice changes in appetite, activity, comfort, or routine
- Document care accurately and communicate observations or concerns to the team
- Safely and calmly interact with cats of varying personalities, ages, and comfort levels
- Maintain a peaceful, organized, and guest-ready environment throughout the Lodge
- Follow established cleaning, sanitation, safety, and care protocols without cutting corners
- Assist with laundry, dishes, stocking, supply organization, and general operational upkeep
- Help create a thoughtful hospitality experience for both cats and their humans
Qualifications
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow written care instructions consistently
- Dependable, punctual, and comfortable being accountable for completing routines independently
- Observant and willing to ask questions rather than make assumptions when instructions or situations are unclear
- Genuine comfort working with cats, including shy, nervous, senior, high-energy, or occasionally reactive cats
- Comfortable with cleaning and sanitation as a significant part of the job
- Clear communicator who works well within a small team
- Able to perform physically active work, including standing, bending, lifting, cleaning, and moving supplies throughout a shift
- Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays as needed
Professional animal-care experience is helpful, but not required for the right candidate. We’re also interested in people whose experience demonstrates exceptional reliability, observation, cleanliness, and attention to detail.
Relevant backgrounds may include veterinary care, animal rescue or fostering, professional pet sitting, boarding, childcare, hospitality, housekeeping, or other environments where following detailed routines and noticing small changes matter.
You May Be a Great Fit If You...
- Are the person who notices when something is slightly out of place
- Read instructions carefully before starting rather than assuming you know what they say
- Genuinely enjoy leaving a space cleaner and more organized than you found it
- Follow through on small details even when no one is watching
- Are patient and comfortable letting a nervous cat move at their own pace
- Speak up when something doesn’t look right or you aren’t sure
- Understand that exceptional cat care involves a lot more cleaning than cuddling
- Enjoy being part of a small business where your work has a visible impact
