Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Terminal Operations to administer, coordinate, and controls assigned operational responsibilities for the Terminal. You would develop, implement, and interpret Terminal policies and procedures relating to operational, Employee, Vendor, and Customer needs. This position manages the day-to-day operations of a team of Fleet Managers and drivers and other personnel assigned to the terminal location while performing various duties related to the specific needs of their location. Duties
- Acts as the official on site PTL representative on site who leads in a professional manner. At times, the position will require direct contact with vendors and customers. When required, act as the company representative to external customers in the terminal market.
- Monitors and maintains safe operations and proper security measures at the location. Involves local authorities and other resources as needed to ensure employee safety and security. Works with facilities, IT, and Maintenance personnel to coordinate all planned repairs, upgrades, or modifications taking place at the facility.
- Cultivates productive relationships with other departmental leads at the facility to consistently deliver a positive, cohesive experience for driving and non-driving employees at their location. For example, maintenance and orientation personnel. Addresses issues professionally and escalates them to the appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
- Negotiates financial payments, such as utilities and vending, as assigned or designated by the company. Holds local vendors accountable to ensure PTL is receiving the proper services as contracted for at their location
- Manages all leadership functions for assigned employees at the location. This includes interviewing & hiring, expectations exchanges, daily supervision & support, coaching, feedback, PIPs, and annual performance appraisals.
- Delivers expected business results in metrics such as but not limited to Miles, Active Rate, Retention, Safety, Service, and Fuel Compliance for their assigned group.
- Plans and organizes personal and team schedules to maximize results while preventing any negative impact on driver service levels or business deadlines. Examples are time off, weekend rotation, holiday coverage, employee training events, staff changes, and technology implementations.

- Develops action plans to maintain results while adjusting to market dynamics, staffing issues, and other unforeseen events.
- Supports stakeholders across the company when needed by assisting with issue resolution for drivers/trucks/loads coming through their facility. For example, driver PIPs, truck assignments, post-accident actions, etc.
- Assists with Driver Orientation as needed and ensures newly hired employees are successfully onboarded, seated, and dispatched following Orientation. Is responsible for a positive first impression.
- When required, fulfills specific technical needs for their facility as required by the unique business segments managed at the location. This could include covering for a Fleet Manager or supporting planning functions.
- Change agent. Keeps up with new PTL applications, software & workflow processes. Models the adoption and usage of these resources. Prepares their team and influences them to embrace and accept change.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Experience
- Five or more years in a similar environment, preferably in the transportation/trucking industry.
Education
- High school diploma required; some college experience preferred.

- Keyboard/computer and telephone use.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays per schedule needs.This is a 50+ hour per week position.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
