Inventory & Materials Technician

About the Role
Crave Technical is seeking an Inventory & Materials Technician to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys organization, logistics, manufacturing operations, and technical problem-solving. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, procurement staff, and electromechanical technicians to ensure materials are available when needed to support customer projects and manufacturing operations.
This role offers hands-on exposure to industrial automation, engineering, manufacturing, and project execution. We are looking for a motivated individual who wants to build a long-term career while developing a strong technical understanding of our industry.
Key Responsibilities
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive inbound shipments and verify accuracy against purchase orders.
- Inspect incoming materials for quality, damage, and completeness.
- Ensure received inventory is entered into company systems accurately and promptly.
- Verify custom-manufactured components meet project specifications.
- Coordinate outbound shipments with freight carriers and customers.
- Maintain shipping records, packing slips, receiving documentation, and tracking information.
- Assist with assembling, packaging, and preparing major machine shipments.
- Process returned materials and warranty items as required.
Inventory Management
- Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages before they impact project schedules.
- Generate purchase orders and work with procurement to replenish stock.
- Maintain accurate inventory records with minimal discrepancies.
- Conduct quarterly inventory audits under the direction of the Materials Coordinator.
- Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and efficient material flow.
- Create project closeout reports and return excess project materials to inventory.
Engineering & Shop Coordination
- Assemble and organize project kits and material racks for production teams.
- Coordinate with electromechanical technicians to maintain tool inventory and calibration schedules.
- Support manufacturing operations by ensuring materials are available when needed.
· Coordinate with shop manager to develop and sustain flexible shop layouts
Process Development & Continuous Improvement
- Assist with implementing and sustaining continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse organization, inventory accuracy, and material flow.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures related to inventory management.
- Communicate with Materials Coordinator regarding inventory trends, product changes, and forecasted needs.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing and process improvement activities.
- Ensure materials are available to support project schedules and customer commitments.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Basic mathematical skills for inventory counting and reconciliation.
- Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to learn and utilize company software systems, including QuickBooks and TETO.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or otherwise authorized to work permanently in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, manufacturing support, procurement, or supply chain management.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with push versus pull inventory systems.
- Knowledge of ABC inventory classification and inventory optimization methods.
- Experience with ERP or inventory management systems (SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks Enterprise, TETO, etc.).
- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, or electrical schematics.
- Forklift certification or prior forklift experience.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Occasional exposure to industrial equipment and manufacturing processes.
- Use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Safety-conscious work environment focused on teamwork and continuous improvement.
Starting Pay Range: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
