Licensed Therapist (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT) – Full-Time W-2 Private Practice
Fort Lauderdale, FL | Hybrid
Estimated annual compensation: $70,000–$95,000+
The Psychology Group is hiring a fully licensed LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT to join our Fort Lauderdale practice. *psychologists please see different job ad
We built TPG for clinicians who want the benefits of private practice without having to build and run one entirely on their own.
That means you can focus heavily on doing excellent clinical work while benefiting from an established referral system, administrative infrastructure, marketing support, a collaborative team, comprehensive benefits, and a practice that is actively invested in helping you build a sustainable caseload.
We offer high standards with a lot of support.
If you are thoughtful, humble, hungry to keep learning, and excited by the idea of being part of a well-run practice rather than practicing on an island, you may feel very at home here.
What Makes TPG Different
A group practice should offer more than an office and a stream of clients.
At TPG, clinicians benefit from the infrastructure we have spent years building behind the scenes:
- An established local brand and strong digital presence
- Active referral development and community relationships
- Administrative and client-services support
- Marketing, website, SEO, and content systems designed to attract new clients
- Support building and maintaining a healthy caseload
- Weekly clinical consultation and collaboration
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Outcome-informed systems that help us evaluate whether our work is actually helping
- W-2 employment with meaningful benefits and income stability
You will not be expected to figure out caseload growth alone.
Based on our recent hiring experience, clinicians with solid clinical skills and average client retention have generally built to a full caseload within approximately 2–6 months. Individual timelines vary, but generating and converting referrals is something the practice actively works on alongside you.
Our Clinical Culture
We take clinical excellence seriously, but we do not believe excellence requires rigidity, isolation, or burnout.
Our clinicians are warm, thoughtful people who care deeply about doing good work and are willing to keep getting better at it.
You can expect:
- Weekly Friday team meetings for case consultation, evidence-based practice training, brainstorming, and practice initiatives
- Regular review of clinical outcomes to help us identify patterns, strengths, and opportunities to improve
- A culture where asking for consultation is viewed as a strength
- Thoughtful feedback and shared clinical standards
- A team that genuinely knows and supports one another
- Plenty of humor, celebrations, food, games, and appreciation mixed in with the serious work
The clinicians who tend to thrive here are confident enough to practice independently and humble enough to know there is always more to learn.
If what you want most is maximum autonomy, very little feedback, or a place where you can simply see your clients and otherwise operate independently from the team, TPG probably will not be the best fit.
If you want strong infrastructure, excellent colleagues, support, collaboration, and room to keep developing as a clinician, it may be.
Who We’re Looking For
You may be a great fit if you:
- Are fully licensed in Florida as an LMHC, LCSW, or LMFT
- Practice evidence-based therapy and can explain how clinical evidence actually informs your work
- Are comfortable working as an outpatient generalist
- Value learning, consultation, feedback, and outcome-informed care
- Build strong therapeutic relationships and retain clients well
- Enjoy being part of a team rather than functioning as a completely independent practitioner
- Are dependable, conscientious, and engaged
- Want to continue growing clinically and professionally
- Appreciate structure, clarity, and a practice that invests heavily in doing things well
We can always use a strong generalist.
We are especially interested in clinicians with meaningful experience in one or more of the following areas (not mandatory):
- Couples therapy
- Eating disorders
- OCD
- LGBTQ+ affirming care
Specialty experience is a plus, not a requirement.
Our Practice Model
TPG serves both private-pay and insurance clients.
Unlike many insurance-heavy group practices, we have invested substantially in our website, digital presence, community reputation, referral relationships, and marketing systems. This gives us access to a meaningful private-pay client base while still allowing us to serve clients using insurance.
Our goal is not simply to fill appointment slots. We want to connect clinicians with clients they are well equipped and genuinely interested in helping.
Full-Time Expectations
This is a full-time W-2 position.
Full-time clinicians are expected to:
- Work at least 4 days per week
- Maintain sufficient weekly availability to average at least 85 completed/billed client sessions per month
- Keep approximately 27 appointment openings available per week to account for cancellations and normal scheduling variability
- Participate in weekly team meetings and practice initiatives
- Contribute approximately 8 hours per month to paid practice-development activities
Practice-development work most often includes creating educational content such as blog posts, social media content, videos, or course materials.
You will not be expected to already know how to do this well. Topics and assignments are guided by practice leadership, and clinicians receive training, editing, feedback, and support throughout the process.
Compensation
Estimated full-time annual compensation: $70,000–$95,000+
Full-time clinicians may choose between two W-2 compensation structures:
Salaried Option
- New full-time clinicians typically begin at $70,000 per year
- Guaranteed salary while your caseload is being built
- Additional productivity-based bonus compensation for billable hours above the monthly threshold (85 billed clinical hours)
Hourly / Productivity-Based Option
- W-2 hourly compensation tied more directly to clinical productivity
- All actual administrative time worked is recorded and paid
- Greater variability in income with greater earning potential as clinical volume increases
We offer both models because different clinicians value different things. Some prefer the predictability of a guaranteed salary while others prefer compensation that moves more directly with productivity.
The advertised range reflects realistic earning potential based on compensation structure and clinical volume. It is not a percentage-based fee split.
Full-Time Benefits
Our full-time benefits package includes:
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays
- Platinum-level medical insurance
- Dental insurance
- 401(k) with employer match up to 3% after one year
- Short-term disability after one year
- Employer-paid malpractice insurance
- Continuing education stipend
- Professional association membership stipend
- Hybrid schedule with some work-from-home flexibility
- Paid team meetings, administrative work, and practice-development activities
A Note About Private Practice
This position is designed for clinicians who want to build their clinical work within TPG. Employees may not simultaneously maintain a separate private practice while employed with us.
Interested in Part-Time Work?
We are also open to hearing from strong clinicians who are seeking a part-time W-2 position. Part-time clinicians are compensated under our hourly structure and are not eligible for all full-time benefits.
Please indicate your preferred schedule when applying.
How to Apply
Please apply through our website rather than through Indeed:
https://thepsychologygroup.com/jobs/#apply
Please submit:
- Your CV
- A thoughtful cover letter
We read cover letters first.
You do not need to write a novel, but we would genuinely like to know who you are as a clinician and why this particular opportunity interests you.
Strong applications often tell us:
- How you use evidence-based treatment in actual clinical practice
- Who you tend to do your best work with
- What you are especially interested in clinically
- What you are hoping for in your next professional home
- Why something about TPG specifically caught your attention
We are not looking for someone who has everything figured out.
We are looking for someone who cares deeply about doing excellent work, wants to keep getting better at it, and values having a strong team and practice infrastructure behind them.
If that sounds like you, we would genuinely love to hear from you.
