Position Overview
Pediatric Associates of Manhattan, PA is a well-established, patient-centered pediatric practice committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to children and families. We are seeking a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP) to join our collaborative clinical team.
This salaried position is responsible for providing comprehensive pediatric primary care services under physician supervision. The CPNP will assess, diagnose, treat, and educate patients and families while working both independently and collaboratively within a physician–NP care model. This role emphasizes continuity of care, patient advocacy, and excellence in clinical practice.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical exams, and evaluation of developmental, psychosocial, and cultural factors
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and screenings; collaborate with physicians and specialists as needed
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans, including prescribing medications in accordance with state laws and practice guidelines
- Provide patient and family education on treatment plans, medications, and preventive health strategies
- Perform minor procedures as appropriate (e.g., laceration care)
- Coordinate care and communicate effectively with physicians, specialists, and community resources
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer reviews, and ongoing professional development
- Serve as a clinical resource and collaborator to team members
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards
- Support continuity of care through follow-ups, patient messaging, and triage of calls/emails
- Facilitate referrals and collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support practice operations
Call, Evening, and Weekend Responsibilities
- Participate in a shared call rotation with physicians and advanced practice providers
- Call may include after-hours phone triage, patient guidance, and coordination of care
- Participate in evening clinic hours as scheduled to support patient access
- Participate in weekend clinic rotations on a rotating basis
- Provide clinical guidance for urgent patient concerns during assigned call periods
- Document all after-hours patient interactions in the EHR in a timely manner
- Collaborate with on-call physicians for escalations or complex cases
- Support continuity of care by ensuring appropriate next-day follow-up or scheduling
Expanded Daily Responsibilities (Acute / Overflow Care)
- Provide same-day and walk-in care for acute pediatric illnesses and minor injuries
- Manage overflow patient volume to support physician schedules and improve access
- Evaluate and treat common conditions such as; Upper respiratory infections, otitis media, strep throat, fever, rashes, GI illness, minor injuries, lacerations, sprains
- Perform focused assessments and rapid clinical decision-making in a high-volume setting
- Assist with procedures including laceration repair, splinting, and in-office treatments
- Triage incoming patient concerns and determine appropriate level of care
- Support same-day scheduling efficiency and reduce patient wait times
- Collaborate closely with physicians for escalated or complex cases
- Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up guidance
- Document efficiently to support high patient throughput
- Float between providers or locations (if applicable) based on daily volume needs
- Assist with seasonal surges (e.g., flu, RSV, back-to-school physicals)
Pay Model
- Salary only first year of employment
- 2nd year and forward salary with production calculation

Education & Certification
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) required
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP)
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric nursing experience in a clinical setting
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner preferred
Licensure & Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice)
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with prescriptive authority
- Current Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
Equipment Used
- Standard pediatric clinical equipment and instruments
- Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and computer-based tools
Work Environment
- Outpatient pediatric clinic setting with exam rooms and administrative offices
- Exposure to communicable diseases and routine clinical materials
Physical Requirements
- Light physical activity, including standing and walking for extended periods
- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs (frequently up to 10 lbs)
