Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Peer Support Specialist to join our dynamic behavioral health team. Duties
- Offer peer-led support to individuals experiencing mental health crises or substance use challenges and their families , utilizing crisis intervention techniques.
- Develop trusting relationships through mentoring, active listening, and motivational interviewing to promote recovery and personal growth.
- Assist clients and families in navigating behavioral health services, including connecting them with appropriate resources and treatment options.
- Document interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Participate in crisis management efforts by assessing risk levels and implementing de-escalation strategies during urgent situations.
- Complete Recovery Capital Index assessments and develop individualized recovery plans that refect participant needs and personal goals.
- Connect participants and families to community resources with warm handoff referrals.
- Provide education on addiction counseling, mental health management, and social work principles to empower clients toward self-sufficiency.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Lived experience with mental health recovery or substance use recovery, demonstrating resilience and understanding of the recovery journey
- Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and crisis management strategies essential for supporting individuals in distress
- Background in behavioral health, mental health counseling, social work, or related fields preferred
- Bi lingual in Spanish preferred
- Strong mentoring skills combined with motivational interviewing expertise to motivate positive change
- Familiarity with addiction counseling principles and practices to support clients effectively
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation and case tracking
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally

Pay: $20.67 per hour
