An established heavy civil contractor is seeking an Underground Utilities Foreman to relocate from Augusta, Georgia, to Charlotte, North Carolina. The company will pay the selected candidate’s full relocation expenses.
This is a permanent position located in Charlotte. It is not a travel assignment or temporary project.
The Underground Utilities Foreman will lead a field crew installing water mains, sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage, fire hydrants, and related infrastructure on commercial and municipal construction projects.
This opportunity is also open to an experienced Lead Pipe Layer or Utility Crew Leader who is ready to advance into a formal Foreman position.
What You Will Do
- Lead and supervise a crew of two to five underground utility workers.
- Coordinate the installation of water mains, sanitary sewer systems, storm drains, fire hydrants, and related utilities.
- Assign daily responsibilities and keep the crew productive and on schedule.
- Read utility plans and coordinate field operations with the Project Superintendent.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and maintain OSHA compliance.
- Monitor production, workmanship, and project quality.
- Complete daily reports covering labor hours, equipment usage, and installed quantities.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, material deliveries, and other project requirements.
- Maintain trench safety and proper excavation procedures.
What We Are Looking For
- Two or more years of underground utility construction experience.
- Hands on experience installing water, sewer, and storm drainage systems.
- Previous experience as a Utility Foreman, Lead Pipe Layer, Utility Crew Leader, or senior utility crew member.
- Ability to read construction plans and utility drawings.
- Strong understanding of trench safety, excavation requirements, and jobsite safety.
- Ability to lead a small crew and communicate effectively with project leadership.
- Valid driver’s license.
- CDL is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is preferred. Candidates willing to obtain certification after hire will also be considered.
