General Summary of Duties: Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, procedures, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks, focusing on phlebotomy. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.
Essential Functions:

Preparing patients before drawing blood.

Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process.

Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas.

Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes. Stocking supplies.

Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly.

Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s electronic health record.

Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws.

Working with supervising Physicians and Clinical Supervisor, and following their directions at all times.

Covering for Medical Assistant staff, when necessary.

Other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma, some college preferred. California State License for Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-I) required.
Experience: Phlebotomists must have completed a phlebotomy program and receiving a professional certification (CPT-1). Previous work experience in a clinical setting, such as a medical testing laboratory, hospital or medical office, preferred.
Requirements: CPT-1, rotating weekends
