St. George Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Rock Band/Guitar Instructor to work with students in grades 7–12. This part-time position is ideal for a musician who enjoys teaching, mentoring young performers, and helping students develop their musical skills in a fun, engaging environment.
The instructor will lead a small rock band and guitar program, 2-3 times per week, teaching fundamental and intermediate guitar techniques, ensemble performance skills, music theory, and stage presence. The goal is to foster student confidence, creativity, and collaboration through music.
Responsibilities
- Teach guitar fundamentals and intermediate techniques to students.
- Lead rehearsals for a student rock band.
- Assist students in learning contemporary, classic rock, and age-appropriate popular music.
- Develop performance opportunities for students throughout the school year.
- Encourage teamwork, musicianship, and positive student engagement.
- Adapt instruction to varying skill levels and musical backgrounds.
- Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching guitar, band, or music lessons to youth preferred.
- Strong guitar performance skills.
- Ability to work effectively with middle school and high school students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience performing in bands or ensembles preferred.
- Knowledge of music theory and ensemble instruction.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching license not required.
- Experience directing student performances, concerts, or recitals.
- Familiarity with rock, blues, contemporary, and popular music styles.
