Job Overview
The Maintenance Coordinator supports the daily maintenance operations for a campus of approximately 40 buildings. This position completes preventive and corrective maintenance, prioritizes work orders, aids with scheduling contractors, and helps ensure that facilities are safe, functional, and well maintained. The Maintenance Coordinator works closely with multiple departments to support building systems, campus infrastructure, and ongoing maintenance projects while balancing operational needs, budgets, and long-term facility goals.
Duties
- Perform basic maintenance and small repairs, painting, and light carpentry.
- Receive, assign, and track maintenance work orders, ensuring timely completion and appropriate follow-up.
- Plan and coordinate preventive maintenance programs for building systems, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and building systems to identify maintenance needs and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, security systems and other building systems as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, equipment service histories, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, building codes, environmental regulations, and organizational policies.
- Communicate regularly with department managers regarding maintenance priorities, project status, and operational impacts.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures that improve maintenance operations, efficiency, and asset management.
Additional Duties
- Custodial: Assist in cleaning and maintaining building walkways, steps, ramps, and entrances daily; tidy up restrooms, hallways, and galleries as necessary in coordination with the Custodian Coordinator
- Assist in snow/ice removal from sidewalks, walkways, vents in coordination with Manager of Landscape Horticulture
- Events: Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, to prepare facilities for events including exhibition openings, private events, and meetings in coordination with with the Maintenance and Event Operations Manager
- Assist with livestock (chickens) as assigned by the Maintenance and Event Operations Manager
- Participate in all trainings and workshops required of Strawbery Banke Museum staff
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operation and maintenance of campus facilities.
Qualifications
- Attention to detail.
- Mandatory High School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a maintenance coordinator or building technician
- Ability to learn minor building maintenance and repair procedures; follow directions; learn specific methods of cleaning facilities associated with museum objects; exercise care and good judgment in the performance of assigned duties
- Logistical planner who has the ability to manage a constantly changing calendar, such as a program and event scheduled for the same date.
- Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions impacting daily work plans, programs and events
- Interacts with visitors and the public in a respectful, professional manner.
Hours:
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of museum events including weekends, holidays and some nights for events.

Physical Requirements
- Must be physically fit. Work entails moving around the 10-acre site, sometimes for extended periods of time outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Must be able to carry heavy weight up and down stairways and be able to safely set up and work on staging and on ladders.
Working Conditions
Must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. The essential duties of this position require regular attendance onsite, with limited capacity for remote work. Regularly work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
