Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and dedicated caregiver with experience supporting children on the autism spectrum. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children diagnosed with Level 2 autism, including both verbal and nonverbal communication needs.
We have two brothers who require support with developing consistent daily routines and continuing to build essential life and learning skills. Responsibilities may include providing gentle guidance and redirection, assisting with personal care such as bathing or showering, and light housekeeping as needed. A strong focus on encouraging independence, appropriate for their developmental level, is very important to us.
The family is located near the Garners Ferry area.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services to clients, including assistance with daily living activities.
- Support clients with specialized care for neurological disorders and autism.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients while adhering to health and safety standards.
- Document client progress and communicate effectively with family members and healthcare professionals.
- Assist with meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote their well-being and independence.
- Follow HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.
- Build strong relationships with clients and their families to enhance their overall experience.
Qualifications
- Experience in patient care or caregiving roles, particularly with dementia or neurological disorders.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and families.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to caregiving safely.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others.
- Experience in home community care or assisted living is preferred but not required.
- Basic cooking skills are beneficial for meal preparation.
