Best Express Transportation is a mid-sized and growing trucking company based in El Paso, Texas. We are committed to safety, compliance, and operational excellence. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety/E-Log HOS Assistant to join our Safety Department.
Job Description:
The Safety / E-Log HOS Assistant will support our drivers and safety team by monitoring and ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, managing ELD systems, and supporting the maintenance and readiness of our fleet.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor ELD (Electronic Logging Device) platform to ensure DOT / HOS compliance (Samsara preferred)
- Train new drivers on ELD usage
- Install and remove ELD hardware; track inventory
- Review and audit E-logs daily
- Upload and maintain records in ALVYS
- Maintain ongoing communication with drivers and assist with log issues
- Assist with vehicle inspections, maintenance records, and DOT compliance
- Conduct yard checks and inventory; coordinate with mechanics and vendors
- Maintain parts, tires, and maintenance inventory
- Collaborate with Penske for truck readiness and maintenance
- Ensure trucks assigned to dispatch are ready for use
- Respond to safety- or maintenance-related calls/messages after hours as needed
- Support other Safety Department tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- 1–2 years of experience in a Safety or ELD-related role in the trucking industry
- Proficiency with ELD systems (Samsara highly preferred)
- Strong understanding of DOT Hours of Service rules and compliance practices
- Knowledge of equipment maintenance documentation
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) required
- High School Diploma or GED required
Schedule:
- 8-hour shifts
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability required
