HR & Payroll Coordinator
Suburban Contractors LLC is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Bilingual HR & Payroll Coordinator to support our Human Resources and payroll operations.
We are an industrial construction contractor specializing in protective coatings, water tank rehabilitation, bridge restoration, and related infrastructure work. This position will work closely with management, field supervisors, and employees working across multiple active projects.
The position has a strong focus on weekly payroll and timekeeping, while also supporting recruiting, onboarding, employee administration, and prevailing wage compliance.
Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll & Timekeeping
- Collect, review, and organize weekly timesheets from field employees and supervisors
- Verify regular hours, overtime, job assignments, employee classifications, and other payroll information
- Follow up with employees and supervisors regarding missing, incomplete, or inaccurate timesheets
- Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
- Maintain payroll records, employee wage information, deductions, reimbursements, and other payroll adjustments
- Respond to employee payroll questions and assist in resolving discrepancies
- Coordinate payroll and employee information with management and accounting
- Maintain accurate and organized payroll documentation
Human Resources
- Assist with recruiting, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring
- Coordinate new-hire onboarding and orientation
- Prepare and maintain employee documentation and personnel files
- Communicate regularly with both English- and Spanish-speaking employees
- Assist employees and management with routine HR matters
- Maintain employee training, certification, and employment records
- Assist with disciplinary documentation, employee changes, and separations
- Support company HR policies, procedures, and employment compliance
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information
Prevailing Wage & Labor Compliance
- Assist with Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage compliance
- Review employee classifications and applicable wage requirements
- Assist with certified payroll preparation, reporting, and recordkeeping
- Help ensure employees working on prevailing wage projects are properly classified and paid
- Maintain required documentation for federal, state, and locally funded construction projects
- Assist with project-specific labor compliance requirements
Training will be provided for Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and other construction-specific compliance requirements. Prior experience in these areas is helpful but not required.
Qualifications
- Fluent in both English and Spanish – Required
- Previous experience in payroll, Human Resources, timekeeping, employee administration, or a related position
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately work with employee hours, wages, and payroll information
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to meet strict weekly payroll deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish
- Comfortable communicating directly with field employees, supervisors, and management
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Experience with ADP or another payroll/HR system is preferred
- Construction industry experience is preferred
- Previous Davis-Bacon, prevailing wage, or certified payroll experience is a plus, but not required

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, responsive, and detail-oriented. This position requires someone who is comfortable following up with employees and supervisors, resolving timekeeping and payroll discrepancies, maintaining accurate records, and working within weekly deadlines.
Because our employees work across multiple active construction projects, the successful candidate must be able to manage changing priorities while maintaining accuracy and consistent communication with both our field workforce and management.
We are willing to train the right candidate on the construction-specific requirements of the position, including prevailing wage, Davis-Bacon requirements, and certified payroll.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
