Job Title: Youth Enrichment Assistant
FLSA Status: Part-Time – Average of 5 to 7 hours per week
Location: Southeast YMCA
Reports to: Youth & Family Director
Salary: $13.00 per hour
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Monroe County YMCA’s Youth Enrichment program seeks a motivated individual to assist the Youth Enrichment Coordinator. This role requires a passion for working with children. The assistant helps plan, prepare, implement, and supervise enrichment activities while providing administrative support and maintaining high-quality programs in a positive social learning environment.
Programming Hours: Homeschool Gym & Swim (Tuesday and Thursday 11:45 – 2:45).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Greet parents and children by name upon entry and exit.
- Actively engage with children through play, conversation, crafts, building, cooking, and other activities.
- Create a warm, positive atmosphere while prioritizing safety and inclusivity.
- Plan, prepare, set up, lead, and clean up activities including crafts, STEM workshops, cooking classes, games, and movement opportunities.
- Understand and enforce safety protocols.
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings.
- Guide volunteers and communicate program policies.
- Manage program resources responsibly and conduct inventory as needed.
- Assist with program promotion and marketing.
- Report parental concerns, incidents, and schedule changes to supervisor
- Maintain reliable attendance and proactive communication regarding scheduling.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with children/teens ages 3-17 or formal education background preferred.
- Excellent oral, written, and auditory communication skills.
- Strong relationship-building, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
- Physical requirements: lift 30 pounds four feet high, sit/stand on floor at child level, stand for extended periods.
- Must complete CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire and maintain certifications during employment.
