The Law Enforcement Records Bureau (LERB) gathers, preserves, and disseminates criminal justice data in support of public safety. Through state and federal partnerships, LERB serves as the state's official repository for millions of fingerprint records and criminal history records. The bureau functions at a high operational tempo with large volumes of data, records, and modernization projects. While administrative in nature, LERB personnel oversee core components of New Mexico's public safety infrastructure and directly impacts law enforcement officers, government entities, and the public.
This position is part of the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) team which receives, processes, and fulfills public record requests. Business operations analysts retrieve, consolidate, and apply mandated redactions to paper, video, and audio records to return to requesters.

This role assists the agency in meeting its legal obligations under the IPRA, maintains defensible public records practices, and delivers consistent, professional service to requesters. It leads the full life cycle of public records requests including intake, review, tracking, assignment, and timely response.
How does it get done?
Maintain Records Compliance (45%)
- Produce accurate documents on a timely basis to fulfill IPRA requests on behalf of the Department of Public Safety. Disseminate criminal history records in compliance with federal and state requirements.
Data Entry (25%)
- Execute accurate data entry inquiry and reference code(s) to obtain record. Maintain organized, secure records notes to ensure accessibility and confidentiality for agency operations using record repository data systems: AXON, MARK43, and TraCS, utilizing security settings in redaction software; Adobe Acrobat and agency record response repository Gov.QA.
Communication (30%)
- Communicate with New Mexico State Police and authorized agents prior to the release of record related to evidence or investigation. Ensure compliance with reporting standards, exemption citations, as they pertain to the redaction of Law Enforcement Records. Provide professional responses to all internal, external, and public stakeholders.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and fingerprinting in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations; and is conditional pending results. Continued employment is contingent upon remaining felony free, per Section 5.12.1.1 of the Criminal Justice Information Systems Security Policy.
In addition, the selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico; or pass and receive the Defensive Driving Certificate within six (6) months of date of hire.
Working Conditions
This position is based in an office environment, involving extensive use of computers, video display terminals, and telephones, with extended periods of sitting. Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, along with frequent walking, standing, sitting, and bending. Occasional statewide travel may be required.
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
