About the Role:
Sheer Logistics is a technology-enabled 4PL & 3PL focused on transparency, service excellence, and long-term customer partnerships. We’re looking for a Business Development Manager (Player-Coach) to drive growth through new client acquisition while leading and developing a small team of Business Development Representatives.
This role is ideal for a proven 3PL sales leader who can both close business and lead teams that execute operationally.
What You’ll Do:
- Personally source, sell, and close new business with new customers.
- Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through contract execution.
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team responsible for both sales and operations.
- Drive growth from existing accounts while securing new business.
- Ensure operational excellence, service quality, and margin performance across accounts.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver scalable, profitable logistics solutions.
- Track pipelines, KPIs, and performance to ensure consistent results.
What You Bring:
- 4–6+ years of experience in freight brokerage or 3PL services.
- Proven success closing new business as an individual contributor.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams responsible for both sales and operations.
- Strong understanding of freight markets, pricing, and execution.
- Hands-on leadership style with excellent coaching and communication skills.
POSITION DETAILS
Compensation:
We offer a competitive salary along with a variable bonus.
RANGE: $100,000 TO $135,000 plus Variable
Work Location:
Sheer’s Chicago or Atlanta office. We offer a hybrid arrangement.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
This role is mostly office based with travel required as needed.
