Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic role based in Albion, NY. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of heavy construction equipment and vehicles, including excavators, loaders, trucks, and specialized drilling and utility equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment according to manufacturer and fleet maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and complete accurate service records.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and other mechanical components.
- Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain and repair company truck fleet.
- Work closely with field crews to minimize equipment downtime, ordering and installing replacement parts, and ensuring all machinery operates safely and efficiently.
- Complete service records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation.
- Maintain an organized and clean work environment.
- Follow company safety protocols, collaborate with supervisors on equipment readiness, and support continuous improvements in fleet reliability.
Qualifications
- Candidate should have at least 5 years of relevant experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic in construction, utilities, or similar industries is preferred.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance for heavy construction machinery and company vehicles.
- Candidates should possess hands-on experience working with Heavy Equipment and related systems used in civil construction and utility projects.
- Candidates should possess proven abilities in Equipment Repair and Troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Knowledge of safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, and to maintain clear service documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in outdoor and field conditions.
- Valid driver's license with Class A CDL
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, work in a shop and work in outdoor construction environments.
- Candidate should possess experience in MIG and TIG welding.
