The Business Operations Manager (BOM) serves as the operational and financial backbone of RG Cowan Design Build. This role is responsible for leading and executing the business-side functions of the company, including finance, human resources, business development systems, marketing operations, compliance, and administrative processes.
Unlike a traditional manager who primarily oversees others, the BOM is a working manager who actively performs key financial and operational functions while also leading the systems, processes, and people that support company growth. The BOM directly manages billing, accounts receivable, payroll administration, account reconciliations, project financial tracking, and other bookkeeping-related responsibilities while ensuring the company's administrative infrastructure remains organized, scalable, and effective.
The BOM leads the Business Operations Coordinator and is responsible for developing the systems, procedures, and accountability measures that support exceptional client experiences, healthy financial performance, effective team development, and sustainable growth.
The BOM serves as the primary liaison between Business Operations and Construction Operations, working closely with the CEO, Project Manager, and Assistant Project Manager to ensure business systems effectively support project delivery while maintaining clear ownership boundaries between the business and construction sides of the company.
