Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Laboratory Manager to oversee daily operations, staff leadership, and quality compliance for our moderate-complexity clinical laboratory.
In this role, you won't just manage from behind a desk—you’ll be the operational heart of our lab. You will work closely with hospital leadership, clinical staff, and our Medical Director to ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy, CLIA/Joint Commission compliance, and smooth day-to-day workflow.
What You’ll Do
● Lead Lab Operations: Oversee daily testing across routine disciplines (Hematology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Blood Bank).
● Champion Quality & Compliance: Maintain continuous inspection readiness for CLIA and Joint Commission standards; oversee QC, QA, and proficiency testing programs.
● Support & Mentor Staff: Recruit, schedule, and empower a talented team of MLS/MLTs and phlebotomists, building a positive, growth-oriented culture.
● Manage Departmental Resources: Handle inventory, vendor relationships, LIS integrations, and departmental budget planning.
● Collaborate Across Care Teams: Partner directly with nursing leadership, physicians, and executive management to optimize turnaround times and patient care.
What We’re Looking For
● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Medical Technology (MT), or a related physical/biological science. (Master's degree in healthcare administration or related field is a plus!)
● Certification: ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) preferred.
● Experience:
○ 3–5 years of clinical laboratory experience in a hospital environment.
○ 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical lab setting.
○ Solid working knowledge of CLIA moderate-complexity guidelines and lab QA processes.
● Mindset: A hands-on leader who thrives in a close-knit environment, communicates clearly, and cares deeply about quality patient outcomes.
