Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a clinical pharmacist, the clinical assistant will use their experience and knowledge to support the clinical department’s efforts in planning, coordinating, and managing the clinical pharmacy’s operations.
Duties:
- Develop physician/pharmacy relationships
- Receive prescriptions/detailed written orders from physicians
- Contact sites to get prescription details and follow-up to ensure accuracy and completion
- Track non-formulary medications via spreadsheets to manage the order process
- Order specialty medications
- Collect and distribute requested and required information for pharmacists and various sites
- Answer phone calls
- Ensure clinical pharmacy standards are met so as to reinforce facility acceptance, which is reflected on retention of facilities
- Set an example of personal integrity, appearance, and ethical business practices
- Complete other duties as assigned with integrity
Qualifications:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
- Courteous with customers and staff
- Comfort and competence with computers and MS software as well as printers, copiers, multi-line phones and fax machines
- Familiarity with pharmacy-related software, in addition to any other software programs needed to manage a pharmacy efficiently
Education/Experience:
- Current certification/license in good standing as RN, LPN, or medical assistant preferred
- Must have successfully completed at least one full calendar year of healthcare office experience with the same employer.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday
9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
