Police Officers in the City of San Leandro work in partnership with the community to promote safety, build trust, and uphold the law with professionalism and accountability. This position is ideal for experienced officers looking to contribute their skills to a supportive and dynamic department, as well as for academy graduates who have completed a POST-certified academy and are ready to begin their law enforcement careers.
San Leandro Police Officers have the opportunity to expand their careers through a wide range of specialized and innovative assignments, including Professional Standards, Drone Operations, Field Training Officer roles, SWAT/HNT, Traffic and Motorcycle Units, and Departmental Training positions, with many additional opportunities for growth and advancement.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU:

Competitive salary - up to $158,148 annual salary ($76.03/hr)

Holiday-in-lieu pay - 7% of base salary

Education incentive pay - 4% to 8% depending on level of education or POST certificates

Uniform allowance - $1,600 annually

Crisis Intervention Training pay - 4% of base salary

Master Officer I/II pay - up to 7.5% of base salary (with at least 10 years as a sworn peace officer with established criteria)

Vacation accrual commensurate with your total sworn peace officer experience

Carryover of sick leave balance (up to 160 hours) from your current employer with documentation

City contribution towards deferred compensation up to 2% base salary

Health and fitness reimbursement up to $500 annually

Up to $2,726.75 monthly City contribution toward medical and dental benefits (you pay only $312.29/month for Kaiser family coverage)

3% at 50 CalPERS retirement formula for Classic Members and 2.7% at 57 for PEPRA Members

Panel Interview
Candidates who successfully pass the PHS will be contacted to schedule an initial panel interview.
Command Interview
Candidates who pass the initial panel interview will be contacted to schedule an interview with San Leandro Command Staff.
Polygraph
Candidates who pass the Command Interview will be scheduled for a polygraph.
Background Investigation
Candidates who pass the polygraph will undergo a background investigation.
Medical exam and psychological evaluation
Candidates who pass the background investigation will be given a conditional offer and then be scheduled for a medical exam and psychological evaluation.
Final Job Offer
