Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hospice Medical Director to lead our hospice care team with passion and expertise. Duties
- Provide comprehensive medical oversight for hospice services, ensuring adherence to NCQA standards and healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and FDA guidelines.
- Lead clinical development efforts by integrating evidence-based practices and advancing research initiatives related to palliative and end-of-life care.
- Supervise medical staff, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, fostering a culture of excellence in patient care and compliance management.
- Oversee utilization management processes to optimize patient outcomes while maintaining cost-effective care aligned with managed care principles.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medical records using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, maintaining compliance with medical terminology standards and healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with hospital partners and community organizations to coordinate services, facilitate transitions of care, and support patients’ holistic needs.
- Manage budgets related to clinical operations, ensuring resource allocation aligns with organizational goals and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution with post-residency experience in hospice or palliative medicine.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in healthcare management, including academic or executive leadership roles.
- Proven supervisory experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams within a hospital or hospice environment.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical development principles relevant to end-of-life care.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA, NCQA standards, FDA regulations, and drug enforcement (DEA) regulations.
- Experience in clinical research or quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of managed care practices, utilization management strategies, and practice management systems.
- Effective teaching and communication skills to mentor staff and educate patients’ families about complex medical issues.
