Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures including medication administration and animal restraint
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques for various species, including dogs, cats, and equines
- Support animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and maintaining overall animal welfare standards
- Prepare animals for surgeries or diagnostic tests by setting up equipment and ensuring aseptic techniques are followed
- Manage front desk duties including client check-in/out, appointment scheduling, and answering client inquiries professionally
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, medications administered, laboratory results, and patient histories in compliance with clinic protocols
- Support laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing while adhering to veterinary terminology and safety standards
Skills
- Proven kennel experience along with animal handling expertise across multiple species
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures
- Experience in pet care, animal restraint techniques, and medication administration including injections or catheterization
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures
- Ability to perform front desk responsibilities efficiently while providing excellent customer service
- Equine experience is a plus for handling larger animals confidently in a clinical setting
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude to support team collaboration and client education
