PRP Center of Hawaii is seeking a highly organized, entrepreneurial, and forward-thinking Operations & Business Development Manager to oversee the daily operations of our small medical practice while helping physician leadership develop and advance a new healthcare business initiative.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who can combine strong office leadership with business development, strategic thinking, and a startup mindset. The physician founder is a plastic surgeon who has developed patented work involving platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and the treatment of capsular contracture. He is seeking a capable business-minded person in execution who can help organize the vision, evaluate opportunities, build the necessary professional relationships, and help move the concept toward a practical and sustainable business.
The long-term goal is to explore ways this work may benefit patients and surgeons, including the potential to reduce unnecessary or repeat surgical procedures where clinically appropriate. The business model, corporate structure, partnerships, and commercialization strategy are still being developed. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an evolving environment and helping turn an established physician's medical innovation into an actionable business plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily office operations, scheduling, workflow, administrative processes, and patient service.
- Supervise and support office staff and help maintain an efficient, professional, and positive work environment.
- Assist with patient intake, follow-up communication, billing support, records, supplies, payment-related processes, and vendor relationships.
- Support marketing and practice-growth initiatives, including advertising, website updates, social media, online reputation management, and referral outreach.
- Work directly with physician leadership to organize and advance the business strategy surrounding patented PRP-related medical work.
- Help translate the physician's vision into defined goals, priorities, timelines, operational needs, and a practical business plan.
- Assist in evaluating possible business models, physician partnerships, licensing or other commercialization opportunities, and pathways for growth, in coordination with appropriate legal, financial, and regulatory professionals.
- Research and help identify surgeons, healthcare professionals, strategic partners, consultants, and other individuals or organizations that may contribute to the venture.
- Coordinate meetings, follow-up, documentation, and project milestones so that business-development efforts continue moving forward.
- Support development of systems intended to improve the patient and physician experience and reduce inefficiency or unnecessary repeat procedures where appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and support HIPAA-related expectations and office policies.
Ideal Candidate
- Strong operations, office management, business development, project management, or entrepreneurial experience.
- Able to listen to a broad or developing idea and organize it into clear, actionable next steps.
- Comfortable working closely with a physician/founder and helping drive an early-stage business initiative forward.
- Strong communication, organization, research, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with healthcare, medical devices or services, startups, licensing, commercialization, marketing, or business development is highly desirable.
- Prior medical office or healthcare administration experience is preferred, but not required.
- Resourceful and proactive, with the judgment to recognize when legal, accounting, regulatory, scientific, or other specialized professional guidance is needed.
- Comfortable reaching out to physicians, potential partners, consultants, and other professional contacts.
- Interested in helping build and grow something new rather than solely maintaining established office procedures.
Growth Opportunity
This role may evolve significantly as the new business initiative develops. The right candidate could have the opportunity to take on expanded leadership responsibilities as the organization grows. Any future incentive, profit-sharing, equity, stock, or ownership arrangement, if offered, would be separately determined and formally documented by the company.
