Job description:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and dependable Medical Assistant to join our team in a busy pediatric and family practice setting. Our practice provides care to patients of all ages, with a strong focus on pediatric patients.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on pediatric Medical Assistant experience, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of childhood immunizations and vaccine schedules. We are looking for someone who is a true team player, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to providing excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Room patients of all ages and obtain accurate vital signs, medical histories, and medication information.
- Provide clinical support to providers during pediatric and adult patient visits.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of pediatric vaccine schedules and immunization requirements.
- Prepare and administer vaccines/medications according to provider orders, practice protocols, and current guidelines.
- Have a strong understanding of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program, including vaccine storage, handling, documentation, eligibility, and inventory requirements.
- Assist with well-child visits, physical examinations, developmental screenings, and other pediatric services.
- Perform in-office clinical procedures and testing as directed by providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
- Communicate effectively with patients and parents/guardians regarding appointments, medications, vaccines, and follow-up care.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Follow all HIPAA, infection-control, and safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, providers, nurses, and administrative staff.
- Provide compassionate, professional, and culturally sensitive care to patients and families.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
- Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant, preferably in a pediatric or family medicine setting.
- Strong pediatric clinical experience and comfort working with children of different ages.
- Knowledge of pediatric immunization schedules and vaccine administration.
- Familiarity with the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program.
- Fluent in both English and Spanish — verbal and written communication preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced medical office.
- Professional, dependable, compassionate, and patient-focused.
- Strong ability to work independently while also being a team player.
Preferred:
- Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or a similar electronic medical record system.
- Pediatric Medical Assistant certification or other relevant clinical certification.
- Experience working in a pediatric, family practice, or primary care office.
