House of Creole, part of Miskiri Hospitality Group, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to help lead our Columbus restaurant.
This is a hands on restaurant leadership role for an experienced hospitality professional who knows how to lead from the floor, develop a strong team, maintain operational standards, and create an exceptional guest experience.
The Assistant General Manager works closely with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations, lead and develop team members, maintain service and food quality standards, manage labor and operating costs, and ensure the restaurant is prepared to deliver at a high level every day.
We're looking for a leader who is visible, organized, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership. You'll help set the tone for the restaurant, coach the team in real time, solve operational challenges, and ensure expectations translate into consistent execution.
What You'll Lead
- Support the General Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations and overall restaurant performance
- Lead opening, closing, and assigned shifts while maintaining strong operational control throughout service
- Lead, coach, train, and develop front of house team members and restaurant leaders
- Create a positive, professional, accountable workplace culture centered on hospitality and teamwork
- Maintain a strong leadership presence on the restaurant floor and actively support the team during service
- Ensure consistent execution of food quality, service, cleanliness, hospitality, and brand standards
- Monitor the guest experience throughout each shift and address service opportunities promptly and professionally
- Support scheduling and staffing to ensure appropriate coverage based on business needs
- Monitor labor throughout the shift and make appropriate operational adjustments based on sales and business volume
- Support the General Manager in controlling labor, food cost, operating expenses, waste, and other controllable costs
- Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, product rotation, and proper storage procedures
- Ensure company operating procedures, systems, checklists, cash handling procedures, and training standards are consistently followed
- Conduct pre shift meetings and communicate daily priorities, menu updates, service expectations, and operational information to the team
- Coach team members in real time and address performance, attendance, conduct, and service concerns in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Partner with the General Manager to identify training needs and develop high performing team members for future leadership opportunities
- Support recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, orientation, and training of new team members
- Monitor guest feedback and partner with restaurant leadership to identify opportunities to strengthen hospitality and the overall guest experience
- Maintain strong food safety, sanitation, health department, workplace safety, and alcohol service standards
- Ensure the restaurant remains clean, organized, well maintained, fully operational, and inspection ready
- Identify maintenance or equipment concerns and ensure they are promptly communicated and addressed
- Assist with restaurant administrative responsibilities, including operational reporting, documentation, scheduling, payroll and timekeeping review, and other management responsibilities as assigned
- Serve as the manager in charge when the General Manager is not present
- Support company initiatives, new programs, menu changes, training initiatives, and operational priorities
What You Bring
- Previous restaurant management experience, preferably as an Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, Service Manager, or similar leadership role
- Strong understanding of full service restaurant operations
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop restaurant teams
- Strong hospitality mindset with a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience
- Working knowledge of restaurant financial performance, including sales, labor, food cost, inventory, and controllable expenses
- Ability to lead high volume restaurant shifts while maintaining service, quality, cleanliness, and operational standards
- Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and problem solving skills
- Ability to address performance concerns professionally and hold team members accountable to established expectations
- Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and responsible alcohol service standards
- Experience with restaurant scheduling, POS, timekeeping, inventory, and operational systems
- Ability to remain composed, decisive, and solutions focused in a fast paced restaurant environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with the General Manager, culinary leadership, restaurant management team, and corporate support teams
- Availability to work a flexible restaurant schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
