Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial acumen and a solid understanding of corporate accounting principles. As a Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees in the US and Canada, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. You will also manage payroll reporting, reconciliations, and collaborate closely with the HR and Accounting teams to ensure payroll accuracy and efficiency. This is an in-office position only, no remote work allowed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 115 employees using payroll software (ADP preferred).
- Process monthly pension payments for approximately 400 retirees
- Ensure all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
- Review and verify employee deductions, PTO, and expense reimbursements
- Maintain accurate payroll records and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Prepare and post payroll journal entries into the general ledger (experience with Great Plains a plus).
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and provide excellent internal customer service.
- Generate and submit payroll reports to accounting and management as needed.
- Ensure proper taxation of employee compensation, benefits, and other earnings.
- Assist with year-end activities, including W-2 processing, tax filings, and audits.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience; multi-state payroll experience a plus.
- Proficiency with ADP payroll systems is strongly preferred; experience with Microsoft Great Plains (GP) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of payroll and tax regulations at federal, state, and local levels.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
