Human Resources & Staffing Coordinator
Loyd Homes, Inc. | Decatur, Alabama
Full-Time | $50,000–$55,000 annually, depending on experience
Loyd Homes, Inc. is seeking a motivated, highly organized Human Resources & Staffing Coordinator to join our team.
Loyd Homes provides residential services to adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Decatur, Hartselle, and Athens. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of our company-wide staffing needs and help us maintain a strong, reliable and appropriately staffed workforce.
This is not an entry-level administrative HR position. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys solving problems, working with people, analyzing schedules and taking a project from identifying a problem all the way through implementing the solution.
What You’ll Do
A primary focus of this position will be workforce planning, scheduling and recruitment.
Responsibilities will include:
· Review employee schedules across our residential homes to identify vacancies, staffing gaps and overtime concerns.
· Analyze overtime and determine where schedule adjustments or additional employees are needed.
· Work directly with House Managers to improve schedules, coverage and staffing levels.
· Identify specific hiring needs by home, shift and schedule.
· Coordinate with outside recruiting/staffing partners to locate qualified candidates.
· Interview and assist with selecting new employees.
· Coordinate new-hire onboarding, required documentation, training and placement.
· Determine where newly hired employees are most needed and coordinate their transition into assigned schedules.
· Monitor staffing levels and proactively recruit before vacancies become urgent.
· Address employee scheduling and staffing concerns.
· Assist management with attendance, performance, disciplinary and termination matters when appropriate.
· Maintain appropriate HR and employee documentation.
· Provide management with regular updates regarding vacancies, hiring progress, overtime and staffing needs.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
· Proactive and self-motivated — you see what needs to be done and take the initiative to do it.
· Highly organized — you can keep track of multiple homes, employees, schedules and open positions.
· A problem solver — you don’t just identify a staffing problem; you work toward a solution.
· Confident — you are comfortable making decisions and having difficult conversations when necessary.
· Professional and fair — you can communicate decisions respectfully, even when they may not be popular.
· Independent — you don’t need someone directing every step of your day.
· Good with people — you can build positive working relationships with employees and managers while still holding people accountable.
· Detail-oriented — you understand that scheduling, hiring and HR documentation require accuracy and follow-through.
Qualifications
Previous experience in Human Resources, recruiting, staffing, employee scheduling, workforce management or a related role is preferred.
Experience in healthcare, residential services, intellectual/developmental disability services, home health, long-term care or another organization with 24-hour staffing needs would be especially valuable.
Applicants should have:
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
· Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
· Ability to handle confidential employee information appropriately
· Experience working with employee schedules and/or recruiting is strongly preferred
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is preferred but not required. Relevant professional experience will be strongly considered.
Compensation
$50,000–$55,000 annually, depending on experience.
