The Field Supervisor represents Lone Star Transportation in the field during wind energy, heavy haul, and specialized transportation projects. This position coordinates daily field activity at loading locations, delivery locations, staging areas, project sites, and other assigned locations. The successful candidate will oversee drivers, subcontracted haulers, equipment operators, and related field activity to help ensure freight is loaded, transported, staged, and delivered safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements. This role serves as a key field contact for gathering accurate information, completing required documentation, communicating with the office, and supporting safe project execution.
- Field Leadership // Represent Lone Star Transportation professionally while overseeing company drivers, subcontracted haulers, equipment operators, and related field personnel
- Project Coordination // Coordinate daily loading, delivery, staging, offloading, delivery sequence, truck movement, and project site activity
- Stakeholder Communication // Work with crane bosses, construction project managers, customers, escorts, site personnel, and office teams to support project execution
- Freight Tracking // Track blades, tower sections, nacelles, hubs, and other project components, including load counts, cycle times, delivery status, and material movement
- Documentation Management // Gather, review, organize, and complete driver paperwork, daily reports, JSA forms, delivery logs, loading records, delivery records, serial numbers, trailer information, and component details
- Safety Reporting // Identify and report unsafe conditions, near misses, accidents, injuries, equipment defects, cargo damage, weather concerns, access issues, and site concerns
- Operational Support // Assist with route surveys, site surveys, access reviews, project planning, daily issue resolution, and escort or steer assignments when qualified and assigned
- Transportation Knowledge // Knowledge of wind energy, heavy haul, oversized load, or specialized transportation operations
- Field Coordination // Ability to coordinate drivers, subcontractors, customers, crane crews, escorts, and site personnel in active project environments
- Communication // Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear daily project updates
- Organization // Ability to manage changing field conditions, competing priorities, documentation requirements, and time-sensitive project activity
- Attention to Detail // Ability to complete accurate paperwork, reports, logs, photographs, and project records
- Safety Awareness // Ability to identify, document, and communicate safety concerns in field-based transportation environments
- Technology Use // Ability to use phones, email, photos, maps, tablets, and company reporting tools
A high school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years of experience in wind, heavy haul, specialized transportation, logistics, construction support, or project-based field operations. An equivalent combination may be considered.
- Driver License // Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
- Travel Requirement // Ability to travel extensively, work away from home, and travel on short notice based on project needs
- Field Documentation // Ability to complete accurate daily reports, JSA forms, delivery logs, driver paperwork, and other required field documentation
- Pilot Car Certification // Must have or be able to obtain required pilot car or escort certification
- TWIC Eligibility // Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card
- Field Conditions // Ability to work outdoors at project sites, loading yards, delivery locations, staging areas, terminals, and along project routes in various weather conditions
An associate degree in transportation, logistics, business, construction management, or a related field, and at least five (5) years of experience in wind energy transportation, heavy haul, specialized logistics, or field supervision. An equivalent combination may be considered.
- Wind Experience // Experience supporting wind energy transportation projects
- Heavy Haul // Experience coordinating oversized, over-dimensional, heavy haul, or specialized freight movements
- Field Supervision // Experience overseeing drivers, subcontractors, equipment operators, escorts, or other field personnel
- CDL // Commercial driver's license preferred but not required
- Passport // Valid passport preferred but not required
- Salary // Pay will be competitive and based on experience
- Location // This position is located at field-based project locations throughout TX, OK, IL, IN, OH, NV, LA, and other locations as assigned.
- Schedule // The working days are typically Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; days and hours may vary based on project needs, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, irregular hours, extended travel, short-notice assignments, outdoor work, and time away from home.
