Job Overview
The Community Support Professional (CSP) is a leadership role designed to strengthen LDSP competency, stabilize ISL operations in accordance with Comfort of Home Healthcare (COHH) and Department of Mental Health (DMH) standards and regulations, and support new program implementation. CSPs carry a minimum caseload of 3 ISLs and serve as the primary leadership development resource for Lead Direct Support Professionals (LDSPs).
This position focuses on structured LDSP onboarding, ongoing competency evaluation, corrective action initiation (excluding termination-level decisions), shift coverage when necessary, and establishing compliance systems when new clients or ISLs are introduced. CSPs participate in an on-call rotation for their respective location (Saint Joseph or Kansas City) as first-line field support, escalating major compliance or disciplinary concerns to the appropriate party (i.e. respective RSP or LRSP, Compliance & Risk Management, or Human Resources).
As part of field stabilization responsibilities, CSPs are expected to work shifts in ISLs as needed to model best practices, assess operational consistency, and support staffing gaps.
This position requires availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Emergencies and phone calls may occur during evenings, overnights, weekends, or holidays. This is not an office-based role and requires field presence, home visits, and emergency response as needed.
Essential Job Duties:
- Be knowledgeable of Comfort of Home Healthcare policies, procedures, and Missouri Department of Mental Health requirements.
- Ensure assigned LDSPs demonstrate competency in documentation oversight, scheduling standards, medication oversight procedures, money ledger accuracy, and end-of-month reporting requirements.
- Conduct structured onboarding and shadow shifts for newly appointed LDSPs to verify leadership readiness and operational competency prior to independent oversight.
- Provide ongoing leadership coaching and documented competency evaluations, including 30-60-90 day assessments and routine performance check-ins.
- Initiate corrective actions when operational standards are not met, including Staff Communications and Disciplinary Reports, required retraining, and documented coaching.
- Concerns that may result in suspension or termination must be escalated to COHH Administration.
- Distribute Support Staff Questionnaires to supported individuals and/or guardians/appointed advocate(s) on a quarterly basis, ensure completion, and return finalized documentation to Human Resources within established timeframes.
- Work shifts within ISLs as needed to stabilize operations, model best practices, assess leadership effectiveness, and support staffing gaps. All CSPs will be required to work a minimum of eight (8) hours per week rendering direct client care within each of their respective ISL within their caseload.
- Assist with shift coverage prior to RSP escalation and personally cover open shifts when operationally necessary.
- Serve as first-line regional on-call support during assigned weekends, providing real-time guidance, coordinating coverage, and escalating significant compliance or disciplinary concerns to the RSP/Lead RSP or Administration.
- Establish operational compliance systems when new clients are admitted or new ISLs are opened, including verification of documentation structure, medication organization, emergency preparedness materials, scheduling templates, and LDSP readiness.
- Monitor operational trends within assigned ISLs and proactively identify leadership gaps or risk areas before escalation to disciplinary action.
- Maintain professional communication with LDSPs, DSPs, RSPs, Human Resources, and agency leadership to ensure consistency in expectations and standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information in accordance with HIPAA training and agency policy.
- Complete all assigned administrative responsibilities in a timely and organized manner.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable.
- Proven background in patient observation, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience providing dementia or memory care for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other cognitive impairments.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Knowledge of caregiving techniques for individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism.
- Hands-on experience with care planning, long-term care procedures, and social work principles is advantageous.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and working with mobility aids safely.
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with patience, empathy, and active listening abilities essential for fostering trustful relationships.

- Proficiency in Therap, Rosemark, and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong understanding of documentation standards, medication administration protocols, and incident reporting requirements
- Ability to assess LDSP competency, provide structural coaching, and initiate documented corrective actions when necessary
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to model professionalism, accountability, and policy adherence in field and office settings
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple ISLs, prioritize tasks, and meet established deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of Protected Health Information in accordance with HIPPA standards
- Certified in CPR/First Aid and Level 1 Medication Aide (or willingness to obtain)
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, participate in on-call rotation, and work shifts within client homes as operationally necessary
Employment Requirements:
- Completion of high school education equivalency (i.e., high school diploma, GED/HiSET certificate) (minimum education requirement)
- Successful completion of drug screening and background check including criminal record, driving record, and abuse/neglect.
- Completion of new hire orientation at the beginning of employment.
- All training requirements within 30 days of employment.
- Three positive references
- Must have appropriate, reliable transportation, proof of insurance, and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- The physical requirements will vary depending on the level of support required by the individual. While performing the duties of the job, this associate at times will be required to stoop, bend, use fine motor skills, for cooking, cleaning, medication administration and operation of a vehicle, etc. The associate may occasionally be required to physically lift and/or move up to 35lbs.
- Must be physically able to perform CPR and First Aid.
- May be required to assist with physical transfer or lifting, depending on the needed supports of the individuals.
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
