TODDLER LEAD & ASSISTANT TEACHERS

Position Overview
A small home-based parent group in Dorado, Puerto Rico is seeking caring and patient Toddler Lead and Assistant Teachers for a pod of approximately five children up to 2 years of age. These teachers will create a nurturing, stimulating environment rooted in play-based learning and early childhood development principles. The teaching will be primarily in English with opportunities to encourage bilingual development. The position follows the Puerto Rico school calendar with some agreed exceptions and offers an annual salary.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and guide a simple, age-appropriate curriculum focused on play, exploration, sensory development, and social-emotional growth.
- Take full responsibility for designing curriculum, gathering supplies, and preparing any materials that are fitting, appropriate, and necessary.
- Vary weekly activities (songs, art, outdoor play, sensory games, storytelling) to keep toddlers engaged while respecting short attention spans.
- Incorporate elements of the Montessori, Waldorf, and Reggio Emilia approaches — each of which includes established infant-toddler practices — adapted for children up to 2 years of age.
- Collaborate closely with one designated parent who represents the parent group.
- Observe and document developmental milestones and share progress with parents.
- Provide a safe, warm, and predictable environment where children feel secure.
- Balance daily structure with flexibility, allowing for shortened learning times appropriate to age.
- Encourage bilingual development, with English as the primary teaching language.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree, coursework, or certification in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred).
- Hands-on experience with toddlers (preschool, daycare, or structured home-based program).
- Familiarity with or openness to Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia toddler methods.
- Knowledge of developmental stages and needs for children up to 2 years of age.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Ability to work with parents as partners in the learning process.

Compensation
Annual salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
