Metglas, Inc., located in Conway, SC, is a world leading producer of Amorphous Metal Ribbon. Since our company began in the 1970’s, Metglas, Inc. (then Allied Signal located in Morristown, NJ) pioneered the development and production of amorphous metal, a unique alloy that exhibits a structure in which the metal atoms occur in a random pattern. The key to Metglas Inc.’s proprietary manufacturing process is the rapid-solidification of molten alloy at a rate of approximately one million degrees Celsius per second.
We are currently seeking an Advanced Products Sales Manager for our growing team!
Responsibilities of Position:
- Develop and drive Metglas business strategy and take ownership of target market prioritization and new product launches
- Develop and drive strategies for existing products/markets
- Take ownership of the strategic planning process for the Metglas business - optimize target markets maximize business profitability
- Develop and monitor global pricing strategies for maximum profitability
- Budget for and drive participation in trade shows, press releases and other promotional activities
- Conduct and summarize market research to assist in optimization of business strategy
- Competitive market analysis. Monitor and communicate activity, including two-way feedback to Japan product team
- Tie in global forecast from factory to individual leads at global sales offices
- Develop and drive strategies for new products/markets
- In addition to the new product development elements of the existing product responsibilities listed above:
- Own new product launches & high-level involvement with spec/design/development of government programs
- Partner with R&D and Operations teams to manage technology development and IP for new products
- Partner with Finemet Business Development team of Hitachi Metals to work toward combination of Metglas and Finemet
- Position Requires domestic and foreign travel – up to 50%
Key Success Factors: (Specific expectations during next 6 - 18 months):
- Deliver high quality bi-quarterly strategic plans to Metglas/Proterial Management
- Focus growth on high profit government-related and new product development sectors
- Highly accurate forecasting and project management for new/developmental products; manage priority in production setting for voice of customer
- Review and revise pricing strategy of overall Adv Products portfolio to maximize profitablilty
- Create global repository for competitive information – inputs into CRM
Attributes/Skills Required/Sought:
- Strong customer focus & strong sense of initiative.
- International marketing experience or exposure - including product commercialization
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and ambiguity
- Strong market, financial and business acumen- ability to identify, evaluate and rank upside opportunities and risks across business
- Excellent analytical skills
- Strong interpersonal skills- demonstrated ability to persuade others, build consensus and resolve conflict. Ability to work with multiple functions and on cross-functional teams
- Excellent project management skills, demonstrated new product development experience
- Strong communication skills, including presentation; proficient on MS-Office products; CRM system
- Previous government supply experience or familarity with National Labs or speicilzed products in emerging markets is a plus
Experience/Education Required/Sought:
- BS in Business or Engineering; MBA preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience, primarily in industrial, technical marketing and product development (commercialization)
