Responsibilities:
Serves as a role model for professional nursing practice by functioning as a recognized unit leader through clinical expertise, education, specialized resource support, and/or evidence-based practice.
Consistently provides constructive feedback to healthcare team members and participates in the nursing peer review process.
Promotes changes that enhance patient care quality and the unit environment and actively participates in or leads successful teams.
Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking, and analytical skills within the framework of Relationship Based Care.
Participates in shared governance initiatives at both the unit and hospital levels.
Applies the nursing process to create a healing environment and develops individualized plans of care in partnership with patients and families.

Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience required.
BSN preferred.
Must obtain and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher rating on the Professional Staff Nurse Performance Evaluation.
Annual completion of one professional contribution aligned with department, hospital, or system goals and approved by the Unit Director through UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder or certification.
Certification is not required for nurses who hold a Master's degree in Nursing or a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).
If a BSN is held, a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted for certification.

Possesses the mobility, visual/manual dexterity, and physical stamina required for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.
Licensure, Certifications & Clearances
Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the state where the facility is located, or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with that state.
CPR certification required within 30 days of hire and must meet American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both didactic and hands-on skills demonstration components.
