Astro Gallery of Gems is seeking a creative, detail-oriented E-Commerce & Digital Content Specialist to support our online presence across our website, social media channels, and third-party sales platforms.
This role combines product photography and videography, e-commerce merchandising, digital content creation, and online inventory management. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable behind a camera, working in an e-commerce platform, and developing compelling digital content that showcases unique gems, minerals, fossils, and natural history specimens.
Key Responsibilities
E-Commerce Photography & Videography
Photograph and video gemstones, minerals, fossils, jewelry, and other products for online sales and marketing.
Produce high-quality product imagery that accurately captures color, detail, scale, texture, and characteristics.
Create short-form video content for product pages, social media, and digital marketing.
Edit and optimize images and video for e-commerce, web, and social media use.
Maintain organized digital photo and video assets.
Work closely with the e-commerce team to coordinate online listings.
Website Content Development
Develop and maintain engaging product and editorial content for the Astro Gallery website.
Upload and manage product photography, video, descriptions, and other digital assets.
Assist with website merchandising, product organization, collections, and promotional updates.
Contribute ideas for improving the online customer experience and product presentation.
Social Media & Digital Content
Develop and maintain content for social media platforms.
Create photography, video, graphics, captions, and other engaging content highlighting products, collections, exhibitions, events, and the world of gems and minerals.
Help develop a consistent visual identity and voice across digital channels.
Collaborate on content calendars and campaigns.
Monitor social trends and identify opportunities to increase engagement and reach.
Third-Party Sales Platforms
Coordinate product uploads, promotional updates, and merchandising across all platforms.
Monitor listings and assist with resolving content or inventory issues.
Learn and adapt to the requirements and best practices of each sales platform.
Logistics & Operations
Schedule and coordinate white-glove shipments for high-value, fragile, oversized, and unique products.
Coordinate domestic and international freight shipments from order through delivery.
Support customs import/export compliance management, including accurate commercial documentation, product classifications, and shipment records.
Negotiate shipping rates, service levels, and terms with carriers and logistics providers.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience with e-commerce, digital merchandising, content creation, photography, or a related field.
Strong product photography and basic videography skills.
Experience using e-commerce platforms and/or third-party online marketplaces.
Strong written communication and copywriting skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Comfortable working with spreadsheets, inventory databases, and digital asset libraries.
Familiarity with photo/video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, or comparable tools.
Familiarity with social media platforms and content management tools.
Team player with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong visual sense and an appreciation for high-quality product presentation.
Interest in gems, minerals, fossils, jewelry, natural history, art, or luxury goods is a plus.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a creative e-commerce generalist who can move seamlessly between photographing a spectacular specimen, writing an engaging product description, uploading inventory, editing a social video, and making sure that the same product is accurately represented across multiple online sales channels.
A passion for visual storytelling, curiosity about natural history and the gem and mineral world, and a meticulous approach to digital merchandising will make you especially successful in this role.
Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
