Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Contractor to install ductless and ducted mini split systems for residential and light commercial projects. The ideal contractor must have hands-on experience with standard wall-mounted mini splits, concealed ducted mini splits, ceiling cassette units, and brands such as MrCool or similar systems.
This position requires strong knowledge of refrigerant line installation, system charging, wiring, thermostat setup, condensate drainage, troubleshooting, and clean, code-compliant installation practices.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. The contractor must be able to work independently and complete professional installations without constant supervision.
Responsibilities
- Install wall-mounted, ducted concealed, and ceiling cassette mini split systems
- Install MrCool and similar mini split brands
- Install and connect indoor air handlers, concealed ducted units, ceiling cassettes, and outdoor condenser units
- Run, flare, torque, seal, and connect refrigerant line sets
- Pressure test, leak test, vacuum, and properly charge systems when required
- Work with different refrigerants and follow proper refrigerant handling procedures
- Install and wire thermostats, controllers, communication wiring, and related low-voltage controls
- Perform basic wiring related to mini split system installation
- Install condensate drains, pumps, line hide, brackets, disconnects, and related components
- Troubleshoot refrigerant, wiring, thermostat, drainage, airflow, and startup issues
- Ensure all work is clean, professional, safe, and code-compliant
- Communicate job progress, material needs, and installation issues clearly
Requirements
- Must have hands-on mini split installation experience
- Must have experience with ducted concealed mini split systems
- Must have experience with ceiling cassette mini split systems
- Must have experience installing MrCool or similar mini split brands
- Must understand thermostat wiring, controller wiring, and mini split communication wiring
- Strong knowledge of refrigerant line charging, vacuuming, leak testing, and pressure testing
- Experience working with different refrigerants
- Must have own tools and basic HVAC installation equipment
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be able to work independently without constant supervision
- Must be detail-oriented and able to complete clean, professional installations
- EPA certification preferred or required where applicable
- Licensed HVAC contractor preferred
Preferred Experience
- Multi-zone mini split installation
- Concealed ducted mini split design and installation
- Ceiling cassette installation and condensate pump setup
- Thermostat/controller setup for MrCool and similar brands
- Residential and light commercial HVAC installation
- Electrical disconnect, low-voltage wiring, and startup testing
Compensation
Pay is based on experience, project scope, and agreed contractor rate.
Work Location
Work will be performed at project sites. Contractor must be able to travel to assigned job locations.
Independent Contractor Notice
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. The contractor is responsible for their own tools, transportation, insurance, licenses, taxes, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
