Children’s Learning Place is seeking a dependable and organized Kitchen Aide to support meal preparation and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years.
Schedule:
Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Responsibilities
Meal Preparation & Food Handling
- Prepare and portion daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks following DCFS standards
- Follow approved menus; communicate any changes with leadership
- Maintain proper hygiene (handwashing and glove use)
- Monitor and accommodate food allergies and dietary restrictions
- Cut fruits and vegetables as needed
- Ensure classrooms receive proper serving items (family-style materials for ages 2+)
- Maintain daily food temperature logs
Food Safety & Storage
- Label and date all food upon receipt and after opening
- Follow proper food storage procedures (FIFO)
- Clean and sanitize all dishes and kitchen equipment per health guidelines
Kitchen Maintenance
- Keep the kitchen clean, organized, and fully stocked
- Clean all surfaces, appliances, and floors daily
- Maintain sanitation standards set by DCFS and the Chicago Department of Health
Inventory & Deliveries
- Receive, check, and organize food deliveries
- Report missing or incorrect items to leadership
- Assist with restocking and supply management
Additional Duties
- Assist with laundry and classroom support as needed
- Work in other areas as required
- Maintain communication with leadership
- Complete 15 hours of annual training
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or GED required
- Meet DCFS and Health Department requirements (physical, TB test, MMR, Tdap)
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices preferred
- Strong organization and time management skills
