Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator to support our healthcare team by providing excellent patient care and coordinating specialty referrals. The ideal candidate will assist providers with clinical and administrative duties while ensuring timely processing of referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments.
Medical Assistant Duties:
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, and documenting patient information.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during examinations and procedures.
- Administer injections, medications, and perform basic laboratory procedures as directed.
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Clean, stock, and prepare exam rooms.
Referral Coordinator Duties:
- Process referrals to specialists, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient benefits.
- Coordinate appointments with specialists and communicate scheduling information to patients.
- Track referral status to ensure timely completion and follow-up.
- Maintain accurate documentation of referrals and authorizations.
- Communicate with insurance companies, providers, and patients regarding referral requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Experience with referral coordination and insurance authorizations preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
