POSITION SUMMARY
Exotics Cannabis is seeking dependable, professional, and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Budtender & Reception Associates.
You will providing excellent customer service throughout the entire customer experience—from greeting and checking in customers at reception to assisting customers on the sales floor and completing transactions.
Employees in these positions are expected to maintain a professional attitude, protect customer information, follow all company policies, and comply with applicable Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) requirements and state regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reception & Customer Check-In
- Greet every customer in a friendly and professional manner.
- Verify customer identification and age before allowing entry into restricted areas.
- Follow all Exotics Cannabis procedures regarding acceptable identification and customer entry.
- Properly enter and verify customer information within the store's point-of-sale and customer management systems.
- Answer incoming telephone calls professionally and assist customers with general questions.
- Direct customers to the appropriate staff member or department when necessary.
- Maintain an organized, professional, and secure reception area.
- Monitor customer traffic and help maintain an orderly flow into the sales area.
- Protect all customer information and maintain strict confidentiality.
Budtender / Sales Floor
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service.
- Assist customers in understanding available cannabis product categories, including flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, vaporizers, edibles, infused products, and other products sold by the store.
- Accurately explain current pricing, promotions, loyalty programs, and product information.
- Maintain knowledge of current inventory, new products, promotions, and store policies.
- Accurately enter and complete transactions through the point-of-sale system.
- Verify purchases and customer eligibility as required before completing transactions.
- Handle cash and other authorized payment methods accurately and responsibly.
- Follow all purchase-limit and transaction requirements.
- Properly package and provide products to customers according to company procedures and applicable regulations.
- Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked sales areas.
- Assist with inventory, restocking, product organization, and other operational duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in cannabis retail, hospitality, or customer service is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be 21+ and able to pass required background checks.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset and a passion for learning and growing in the industry.
- Strong knowledge of cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, edibles, and accessories.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of cannabis culture, products, and consumption methods.
- Ability to provide product recommendations while maintaining compliance with state laws.
- Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and digital platforms for sales and inventory tracking.
- Detail-oriented and committed to operational excellence.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time throughout scheduled shifts.
- Must be able to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull products or inventory weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead while stocking inventory, organizing displays, and maintaining the sales floor.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment with frequent movement and multitasking.
- Ability to use a computer, tablet, point-of-sale system, and other retail equipment for extended periods.
- Must have the manual dexterity to handle cannabis products, packaging, cash transactions, and inventory accurately.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with customers, team members, and management in person and over the phone.
- Capable of maintaining focus and attention to detail in a busy retail setting.
- Ability to work in varying retail conditions, including exposure to bright lighting, moderate noise levels, and frequent customer interaction.
