Join our dynamic team as a Local CDL Truck Driver, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of freight within local routes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to operate a variety of commercial trucks, including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, and tankers, while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. As a key player in our logistics network, you will be responsible for transporting goods across designated routes, managing cargo handling, and maintaining excellent customer service. Your expertise in manual transmission driving, hazardous materials regulations, and route planning will drive our success forward.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers on local delivery routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques and equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Local routes daily while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Transport hazardous materials and dangerous goods following all hazardous materials regulations and safety protocols.
- Manage logistics cargo handling with precision to prevent damage and ensure proper documentation for each shipment.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify truck safety, including checking for compliance with DOT regulations and vehicle condition.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate deliveries, report issues, and update delivery statuses promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or flatbed as applicable.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving and delivery driving within local areas.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, forklift operation, and freight handling procedures.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT regulations, and safety standards for manual transmission trucks.
- Ability to manually load/unload cargo safely while following proper procedures for truck loading and unloading.
- Strong navigation skills using GPS systems to optimize routes and ensure timely deliveries.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety compliance during over-the-road (OTR) routes or local deliveries.
- Physical ability to handle manual tasks involved in logistics cargo handling and truck loading/unloading processes.
