Role Overview:
Our maintenance department is looking for a seasoned Industrial PLC Technician to support our facility operations. You will be tasked with the installation, repair, and ongoing maintenance of our electrical infrastructure and machinery. To succeed in this position, you must possess deep expertise in PLC systems, electrical motors, VFDs, and predictive maintenance for rotating equipment. Your technical contributions will be vital in maintaining high safety standards and ensuring our production lines run at peak efficiency.
Core Responsibilities:

Execute both scheduled and urgent repairs on industrial electrical systems, such as control circuits, power distribution, and lighting.

Identify and resolve electrical malfunctions in equipment to help minimize downtime and maintain steady production flow.

Install and maintain electrical components, conduit, and wiring while strictly adhering to established industry codes.

Calibrate and verify the performance of electrical hardware to guarantee operational accuracy.

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot various industrial electric motors, including AC/DC and multi-phase units.

Conduct comprehensive motor testing, such as winding resistance and insulation checks, to ensure long-term reliability.

Replace internal motor components like seals and bearings to extend the lifespan of our equipment.

Perform precise alignment of couplings and motors to prevent mechanical wear and improve system longevity.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues with PLCs and their associated I/O devices.

Interpret complex ladder logic and programming languages to support system functionality.

Assist with necessary PLC upgrades and modifications to improve system performance.

Manage the security of control systems by performing regular backups and restores of PLC programs.

Install, program, and maintain VFDs to support precise motor control.

Adjust VFD settings to enhance motor performance and drive energy efficiency across the plant.

Diagnose and rectify faults within VFD units to keep production moving.

Create and execute preventative maintenance plans for rotating assets like fans, pumps, and conveyors.

Perform routine lubrication and adjustments to ensure rotating equipment operates at peak performance.

Utilize predictive tools like thermal imaging and vibration analysis to detect and resolve potential equipment failures before they occur.

Maintain precise documentation of all maintenance tasks and findings to support team transparency.

Follow all safety protocols, including LOTO, to help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team.

Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC standards and safety regulations.

Participate in regular safety meetings to foster a culture of workplace awareness.

Record maintenance activities and repairs to ensure accurate historical data.

Update electrical schematics and drawings to reflect system changes.

Coordinate effectively with production staff and management to ensure maintenance goals are met.

Analyze recurring electrical problems to implement permanent solutions and improve long-term reliability.

Engage in continuous improvement projects to boost overall equipment efficiency.

Support the broader maintenance team with various facility tasks as needed.

Keep your designated work area clean and organized to promote a safe and efficient shop floor.
Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Technical school training or an apprenticeship in electrical maintenance is highly preferred.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial electrical role, specifically with PLCs, VFDs, and rotating equipment.

Demonstrated ability to repair and troubleshoot industrial electrical systems.

Strong grasp of wiring diagrams, electrical theory, and schematics.

Proven track record of maintaining and troubleshooting PLC systems.

Experience with the installation, programming, and troubleshooting of VFDs.

Solid knowledge of preventative maintenance for rotating equipment, including basic condition monitoring.

Familiarity with standard electrical testing tools like multimeters and megohmmeters.

Knowledge of NEC and other relevant electrical safety codes.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Physical capability to perform essential tasks, including lifting, bending, and working in tight spaces.
Preferred Qualifications:

Journeyman or Master Electrician certification.
