QC Tech - General Job Description and Responsibilities
· The Quality Control Technician reports directly to the QC Manager/SQF Practitioner;
· The QC Technician ensures:
o All employees, visitors and contractors are following Company GMP’s;
o Assist in training as well as train employees on GMP policies;
o Ensure Food Safety Policies and quality expectations are maintained at all stages of operations;
o Inspect product and ingredients for Quality and Food Safety requirements; immediately report any non-conformity.
o Ensures products and ingredients are stored properly to prevent cross contamination from microorganisms and allergens Ensure all products and ingredients are properly labeled to ensure traceability. Also oversees the packaging of outgoing products to ensure Quality/Food Safety are maintained;
o Daily Pre-operational Inspection form is completed by designated employees;
o Daily Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP’s) is followed;
o Monitor, along with sanitation department, the Master Cleaning Schedule and SOP records;
o Collects environmental swab samples (microbiological) arrange to send out to third party lab and track results to verify plant’s cleaning and sanitation is adequate.
o Collects ATP swabs and Allergen Swabs on daily basis to check adequacy of cleaning and sanitation of production areas.
o Collects products and ingredients samples as per SOP and send to a third party lab for microbiological and chemical analysis.
o Completes daily records for HACCP finished product labels, label verification, thermometer calibration, scales calibrations and storage temperature monitoring logs in a timely manner;
o Conducts histamine analysis on Scombroid species to monitor fish is within compliant level (<50 ppm) every 2 weeks or as requested.
o Conduct Poke Sensory Analysis and document accordingly (weekly)
o Daily Metal Inclusion Checklist is completed;
o Reports and documents any variations from HACCP plan’s, CCP’s, or any Food Safety or Food Quality concerns in a timely manner;
o Maintain accurate records and logs;
o Monitors that the storage and handling of ingredients and products are conducted as per procedure;
o Establish and maintain collaborative and productive working relationships with management and all employees.
o Calibrate and verify metal detector.
o Other duties and projects as assigned
Back-up: If the Quality Control Technician is absent from work, the Company’s SQF Practitioner/QC Manager will take over their responsibilities until Quality Control Technician returns to work.
Additional duties / Clarifications:
- Conducts monthly internal GMP and Foreign Material audit.
- Maintains and report deviations from SQF standards.
- Completes daily records for HACCP documentation, finished product labels, label verification, thermometer calibration and storage temperature monitoring logs in a timely manner.
- Conduct histamine analysis and Scombroid species to monitor that fish is within compliant levels every 2 weeks, or as requested.
- Calibrate and record verification of checks on metal detector.
- Multitask efficiently in a fast paced environment.
- Communicate and report to QC department clearly, collaboratively, and in a timely manner.
Qualifications / Preferences:
QC Experience Preferred - Minimum 1 yr
Bilingual - Spanish preferred
Shift Hours - Monday to Friday 4:00am - 1:00pm W/ 1 hour lunch
Pay: $18.00-$22.00 - DOE /Knowledge / Education: Experience can substitute for education.
