The Systems Analyst will play a crucial role within our technology team, addressing a wide range of technical challenges to support our TAX Assessment and CAMA (Computer assisted mass appraisal). The Systems Analyst should have previous experience as a SQL Data Analyst, possess exceptional skills in SQL data analytics, queries and reports essential for business operations and decision-making processes and will be involved in developing, writing and maintaining a multitude of SQL reports and queries.
This position will work closely with colleagues, developers, testers, and a variety of end users to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction across Loudoun County’s tax assessment and commercial mass appraisal (CAMA) systems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries to efficiently retrieve, manipulate, and aggregate data from databases. Ensure optimal query performance by understanding execution plans, indexing strategies, and database statistics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including business analysts, data scientists, and end-users to understand reporting requirements. Design and develop SQL-based reports using tools like SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Extract data from multiple databases or sources and transform it as necessary for reporting purposes. Perform data joins, apply business rules, and aggregate data to meet specific reporting needs.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of data used in reports through thorough testing and validation procedures. Verify data integrity across different sources and ensure consistency in reporting outputs.
- Deploy SQL-based reports to reporting servers (e.g., SSRS), ensuring proper configuration and accessibility for end-users. Monitor and maintain existing reports to accommodate changing business requirements and data sources.
- Monitor the performance of SQL queries used in reports. Identify opportunities for optimization, analyze query execution times, and monitor database server performance metrics.
This position is full-time and on-site in our Sterling, Virginia office, with the potential for telework up to two days per week after six months.
Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.
