Utilities Employees Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant I to support core accounting operations within our Finance team. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, performing reconciliations, and assisting with monthly close and reporting activities. This is a hybrid role, offering a combination of in-office and remote work.
The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy. This role works closely with internal teams and vendors to ensure financial transactions are processed efficiently and in compliance with established policies and regulations.

Maintain general ledger records, journal entries, and account reconciliations

Assist with monthly close and prepare budget-to-actual variance analyses

Process vendor invoices and payments (check/ACH) and resolve discrepancies

Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations as assigned

Support reporting activities, including 1099 preparation and financial documentation

Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements, including BSA/AML

Originate wires

Associate's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)

Minimum of 1 year of accounting or finance experience preferred

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities

Intermediate Excel skills (including formulas such as VLOOKUP and IF functions)
