Operates tandem dump truck in the hauling of asphalt used in the patching of potholes on state owned roads.
Operates front-end loader in the loading and unloading of maintenance materials such as asphalt, dirt, coquina, and concrete pipe.
Assists in emergency and inclement weather operations may include being available for extended working hours and/or 12-hour shifts.
Flags traffic during road repairs to control the flow of traffic, making work sites safe for workers and the traveling public.
Performs duties using manual labor in such maintenance tasks as clearing right of ways, cleaning drainage ditches, repairing shoulders, patching potholes, making base repairs, repair to bridges, and paving driveways.
Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
