Position Summary
Packaging Maintenance “A” Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance of high speed packaging equipment, such as baggers, cartoners, and case packers in a food environment supporting manufacturing operations.
Essential Functions
· Ensures safe working conditions by following safe work practices
· Ensure food safety by following GMP, HACCP, and other food safety requirements
· Evaluate machine conditions and maintenance tasks in regards to safety
· Provide and implement solutions in regards to safety
· Perform Preventative Maintenance on assigned equipment
· Evaluate current Preventative Maintenance tasks for proper information, tasks, and intervals
· Ensure proper and timely repairs to assigned production equipment
· Train other Mechanics in the proper repair of assigned production equipment
· Fabricate parts within .025” tolerance on Lathe and Milling Machine utilizing machine drawings
· Utilize Wire Feed, Stick, and Tig welder to complete strong welds
· Utilize all shop and hand tools effectively and safely including Plasma Cutter
· Write proper Current Best Approach (CBA’s)
· Read pneumatic drawings
· Effectively utilize Lean Manufacturing Techniques (5S, Smart Changeover, etc…)
· Effectively utilize TabWare for PM’s and stock inventory
· Contribute positively in a team environment to solve complex problems
· Document all completed work effectively
· Changeover packaging equipment
· Diagnose and repair Packaging equipment
· Prepare and maintain machine records
· Audit equipment for quality and safety
· Evaluate machine performance and make recommendations to improve performance
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical Technical training preferred
- Minimum of 6 years experience in a manufacturing maintenance environment
- Food and/or confectionery experience preferred but not required
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers’ service specifications
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Basic computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to utilize HMI to set-up and troubleshoot equipment
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in packaging equipment repair
- Knowledge of troubleshooting mechanical problems and performing repairs
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
- Ability to use power and hand tools, operate lathe and milling machine for emergency repairs, and weld for emergency repairs
- Ability to analyze machine issues using machine manuals
Pay: $44.00 - $48.00 per hour
