Position Overview
Lidu Academy is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Toddler Classroom Teacher to join our team. This role is responsible for creating a warm, safe, and engaging environment where toddlers (ages 15 months – 24 months) can explore, learn, and grow. The teacher will develop age-appropriate activities that promote early developmental milestones, including language acquisition, motor skills, socialization, and emotional development. This position will also integrate Assyrian language and culture into the classroom in a fun and accessible way for toddlers.
Key Responsibilities
Classroom Instruction and Child Care
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support toddlers’ language development, motor skills, social-emotional growth, and cognitive abilities
- Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and independence
- Actively engage with toddlers during playtime, circle time, and educational activities to promote a love of learning
- Maintain a well-organized, clean, and safe classroom environment
- Ensure that each child’s individual needs are met with respect, compassion, and care
Social-Emotional and Behavioral Development
- Guide toddlers in developing positive social skills, such as sharing, taking turns, and following simple instructions
- Use positive reinforcement techniques to support behavioral development and create a calm, respectful environment
- Encourage toddlers to express themselves and manage their emotions in a healthy, constructive way
Communication with Families
- Maintain open, positive, and respectful communication with parents about their child’s daily activities, progress, and any concerns
- Prepare and share regular progress reports on children’s developmental milestones and achievements
- Address parent questions or concerns promptly and professionally
Collaborative Teamwork
- Work closely with other teachers, staff, and administrators to create a cohesive learning environment
- Participate in team meetings and staff professional development activities
- Help set up the classroom, prepare materials, and ensure that the learning space is safe and engaging
Health and Safety
- Ensure that toddlers are supervised at all times, and that their health and safety are prioritized
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including hygiene protocols, nutrition, and safe sleep practices
- Administer first aid and CPR if needed, according to certification requirements
Qualifications
Required
- A minimum of 1 years of experience as a teacher or caregiver in a toddler or early childhood setting
- Associate or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, Child Development, or a related field
- Certification in Adult, Child and Baby First Aid and CPR
- Knowledge of child development principles and practices for toddlers (ages 15 months – 24 months)
- Ability to create a positive, engaging, and nurturing learning environment
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Willingness to integrate Assyrian culture into the curriculum
Preferred
- Experience working in a toddler classroom (ages 15 months – 24 months)
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field
- Spoken fluency in Assyrian is required. Reading and writing skills are a plus; support can be provided if needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift to 25lbs
- Ability to sit on the floor and engage with toddlers for extended periods
- Ability to operate classroom equipment (toys, learning materials, etc.) and office equipment (copier, fax, scanner, phone, computer)
- Extended periods of time on the phone, typing, and reading on a computer screen
