Machine Operator / Dump Truck Driver
We are looking for a dependable Machine Operator / Dump Truck Driver to support our daily compost and agricultural operations.
This is a hands-on position that combines heavy equipment operation, truck driving, and physical work. The role involves operating machinery used in compost production and driving manual-transmission heavy-duty dump trucks with a hydraulic dump body to transport and unload compost and other materials throughout our farm operations.
Previous experience driving large manual-transmission trucks is required. A CDL is not required for this position. Candidates should also be comfortable operating heavy equipment and working in an active outdoor agricultural environment.
What You’ll Do
- Operate heavy equipment and machinery used in daily wharf and compost operations.
- Drive manual-transmission heavy-duty dump trucks to transport compost and other agricultural materials between designated farm locations.
- Safely operate the truck’s hydraulic dump body to unload compost and materials.
- Operate loaders and other assigned heavy equipment to move, load, and manage compost materials.
- Load, transport, deliver, and unload materials according to operational needs.
- Safely maneuver large trucks and heavy equipment in active farm and production areas.
- Perform basic pre-use inspections of trucks, machinery, and equipment.
- Monitor equipment during operation and report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Assist with hands-on wharf and compost operations when not driving or operating equipment.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in safe and orderly condition.
- Follow assigned routes, schedules, and operational instructions.
- Follow company safety procedures and equipment operating requirements.
- Work with the Wharf and farm operations teams to keep materials moving efficiently.
- Additional hours may be required based on production and operational needs.
- Candidates should be comfortable with the schedule flexibility required to support an active agricultural operation.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience driving large manual-transmission trucks required.
- Experience driving manual-transmission heavy-duty dump trucks or similar large commercial trucks strongly preferred.
- Comfortable operating a truck equipped with a hydraulic dump body.
- CDL is not required for this position.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Previous experience operating loaders, heavy equipment, farm equipment, or similar machinery preferred.
- Ability to safely maneuver large trucks and heavy equipment in active work areas.
- Comfortable working around compost, agricultural materials, machinery, trucks, and heavy equipment.
- Comfortable performing hands-on physical work as part of the position.
- Able to work independently and as part of an operations team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Comfortable working primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to follow safety procedures and work instructions.
