Ampersand Therapy is seeking an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with their CCC-SLP who is passionate about mentoring the next generation of clinicians. This position offers the opportunity to provide school-based speech-language services while supervising and supporting a Clinical Fellow (CF) throughout their fellowship year.

- Mentor and supervise a Clinical Fellow (CF)
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and feedback throughout the fellowship experience
To supervise a Clinical Fellow, candidates must:
- Hold a current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
- Have at least 9 months of post-CCC clinical experience
- Complete at least 2 hours of CF supervision training/professional development focused on supervision prior to supervising a CF
- Hold a valid state license and appropriate school credentials
- Remain in good standing with ASHA with no certification or ethical issues
This role involves more than simply signing paperwork. Supervisors play a critical role in developing and supporting new clinicians.
The supervisor must directly observe the CF providing services through:
- In-person observation
- Live video observation (tele-supervision)
- Recorded sessions when appropriate
Required Hours
- 6 hours of direct supervision per segment
- 18 total direct supervision hours across the entire fellowship
Indirect supervision activities may include:
- Reviewing IEPs, evaluations, and documentation
- Case discussions
- Providing feedback and coaching
- Emails, phone calls, and consultation meetings
Required Hours
- 6 hours of indirect supervision per segment
- 18 total indirect supervision hours across the entire fellowship
A strong supervisor provides consistent support related to:
- Caseload management
- Evaluations and assessments
- IEP development
- Clinical decision-making
- School-based systems and procedures
- Collaboration with teachers and families
- Professional growth and confidence building
- 36 weeks total
- Minimum 1,260 hours
- Divided into 3 segments of approximately 12 weeks each
- Approximately 420 hours per segment
ASHA requires supervisors to maintain consistent contact with the CF throughout each segment. Supervision should extend beyond the minimum required hours and include regular communication and support.
The CF tracks:
- Total hours worked
- Segment timelines
- Progress toward the required 1,260 hours
The supervisor documents:
- Dates of supervision
- Direct vs. indirect supervision
- Duration of each supervision session
At the end of each segment, the supervisor completes a formal evaluation assessing competencies in:
- Evaluation
- Treatment
- Professional Practice
- Interaction and Communication
The supervisor determines whether the CF:
- Meets Expectations, or
- Does Not Meet Expectations
The supervising SLP is responsible for:
- Ensuring appropriate service delivery
- Monitoring clinical competency development
- Verifying supervision requirements are met
- Signing off on fellowship hours and progress
- Recommending the CF for ASHA certification upon successful completion

- Enjoy teaching, mentoring, and developing future SLPs
- Master's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders
- Current Colorado SLP License (or ability to obtain)
- Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider License (or willingness to obtain)
- ASHA CCC-SLP required
- School-based experience preferred
- Leadership and mentorship experience preferred
